About Us

When I (Sarah Gould) first moved back to work on the family farm in 2002 we were intense sheep farmers and there were also about 20 alpacas. My first opinion was they were stupid animals for lifestylers, I didn't like them at all. After having to work with them, my opinion quickly changed. They are FAR from stupid, in fact they are one of the most intelligent animals I have ever worked with. Since then our herd has increased to about 60 plus breeding females and we have dedicated our breeding programme to the simply divine elegant Suris.

Our farming practice has also changed from sheep to dairy heifer grazing. We have 900 acres on the Canterbury plains just 14km north of Ashburton.

We have been breeding alpacas since 2000, starting with Huacaya's mainly and a few Suri's. Having worked with both breeds our passion lay with the simply glorious suri's.From there our love and focus for these animals has never stopped growing. The way there fleece hangs in its stunning dreadlocks style, and on a sunny day you can see the lustre shimmering in the sun light, and to top it all off the showy personality each of them has. They are simply devine elegant and very special animals.
